We recommend at least $2,000,000 of liability coverage.  Each contractor is required to carry this insurance and have a copy with them or in their truck at all time.

It is usually very inexpensive as well.  Insurance companies will have a minimum premium for insurance like this and it's usually around $500 to $1000 per year for contractor's liability.

There are some handymen or companies that have the skills and insurance required to get the job done safely. Always ask about the handyman's insurance, or better yet, ask to see his insurance certificate and make sure that the handyman's ID (driver's license) shows the same name as the insurance.  We at Call A Husband do ask that the contractors carry a copy or their insurance in their van.
